What to Do the Morning of the Wedding
I could list off all the big to-doβs that you probably should do before your wedding really gets going, but I think Iβll start this off with my biggest suggestion for the morning of the wedding:
Relax.
Yep, I said it. Chill out. Take a breath. Youβve spent at least a year (if not more) planning this entire day so it would go off perfectly. You deserve to just enjoy it and not be stressed over the minor details. Thatβs what your wedding party (and wedding planner if you hired one) is for!
If you are choosing to DIY some aspects of your wedding and want to do them the morning of, I highly recommend limiting the number of things that need to be done, or delegating them to a member of your wedding party. For example, I have a friend who wants to DIY the florals for her wedding day. Basically her vision is that the morning of the wedding, each bridesmaid gets to make their own bouquet during the getting ready part of the day. I think this is totally fine, as long as the wedding couple is not stressed, as thatβs ultimately the number one priority.
Itβs well-established that weddings are not a walk in the park. They can be stressful if youβre not prepared for them, or if you donβt have a support system in place. If youβre thinking that there's a list of things that you need to do and that you can just do them all the morning of the wedding, don't. Do it the night before, do it a week before, do it as much time in advance, or delegate it to someone else. Even if itβs something that must be done the morning of your wedding, Iβm sure someone else can do it for you. You should be as relaxed as possible because your wedding day is one of the most important days in your relationship, and you deserve to enjoy it because itβll fly by before you know it.
Now, in terms of fun activities to do the morning of the wedding, there are some classic ideas (that are frankly, somewhat heteronormative) that will keep you laughing and having a good time. For example, itβs very common in the Midwest for grooms and their groomsmen to go golfing the morning of the wedding. Most men donβt need as much primping the day-of so they have a lot of time to kill before saying, βI do.β For us, even though our wedding is in the Midwest, my fiance isnβt super tied to the idea of golfing, so he wants to lead a Dungeons & Dragons campaign with his favorite dudes. I think this is honestly perfect for him, since itβs one of his favorite hobbies anyway!
For me, Iβm planning on trying to sleep in (because letβs be real, itβs like being a kid on Christmas morning), and Iβll probably host brunch for whoever in our wedding party wants to join. Maybe Iβll make a blanket fort and watch a movie β who knows! But I do know that I wonβt be stressing about my vendors or anything that needs to be done.
Logistically speaking, there are a few must-doβs that will make your day that much more enjoyable, but theyβre all things you can do the night before:
Go to sleep early and sleep in as much as you can. Especially if youβre like me and planning on partying all night, youβll need as much sleep as possible to keep going!
Practice your vows. The last thing you want to do is trip over your words in front of your fiance and all of your guests.
Organize your accessories and get them ready for your photographer and videographer.
Steam your apparel. If you or anyone in your wedding party has to travel to get to your getting ready area, your attire might develop a wrinkle or two.
Tidy up where your hair and makeup artists will be working. They need a good amount of space to work, and you definitely donβt need your wedding photos to look too messy!
Overall, set yourself up for success so you can just relax and enjoy the ride of your wedding day! And the last major thing you can do to make sure your wedding day goes off perfectly is hit that button below ;)
