The way I work

Humans are weird and wonderful creatures, and above all, they deserve to be understood.

I believe that everyone has a story that has led them to become who they are today. I know mine was weird and messy, and I’m still working through a lot of it, and I can only imagine what yours is like.

Here are three core things I believe that affect how I work.

You’re allowed to be yourself.

I want your whole self. I want the crazy, the goofy, the emotional, the real. I want the person you hide from 90% of the world. I want to leave our session thinking to myself, “holy shit when do I get to hang out with them again??”

I want you to be shamelessly you.

I want you to be proud of it.

I believe that being vulnerable and accepting of each other is the one thing that will truly change the world. Why not start with you and me?

And if that means that we start our session with a dance party where we look like fools, then you’re damn right that’s what we’re doing.

Shit happens, but it’s for a reason.

We’ve heard the phrase before, but when’s the last time you thought about it?

When’s the last time you considered everything that has happened to you, and why it did?

Personally, I’ve had a lot of trauma happen to me in my short years, and there were plenty of times where I questioned the universe and was pissed off about it.

I’ve learned since then that I’m stronger for what I’ve gone through, and so are you.

You wouldn’t be who you are without your past. Show me who that is.

Photography can Change the world.

By now, you’ve figured out that I’m trained in photojournalism. I’ve seen news images change policy, change perspectives, and change lives.

Honestly? I think wedding and portrait photography can do the same.

What would happen if someone with so little self-confidence could see themselves in my images? What if they worked up the courage to contact me, and what if we made amazing images together?

What kind of snowball effect could happen from something as so seemingly simple as that?

Imagine all of the good that could come from those kinda warm and fuzzy vibes.

I want to be part of that.

I want to change the world.

“Amber was the most patient and attentive person. For two people who do not spend a lot of time in front of the camera and can be awkward and hard to wrangle, she created the most stunning photos. Plus, she has been with us through every step: engagement day, engagement photos, and wedding day. We will never use anyone else!”
