SoHo Housing Works Book Store Wedding | NYC Travel Wedding Photos

I think the whole world can agree that New York City holds a certain kind of magic. And while she’ll never match my true love of Las Vegas, there’s truly so much beauty in this urban jungle, from the surreal skyline to the quiet cobblestones of SoHo. When Valerie and Alijah first contacted me, it was right before their move from NYC to Seattle and they definitely understand that love you hold for the city that will always be home!

I was so happy to scoot up to Seattle to take their engagement pictures (check out that session here!) and getting to travel to New York to capture their wedding photos? Yes, please! This was SO much fun!

If you’ve picked out a wedding photographer, it’s a great idea to get engagement pictures with the same photographer, too! Working together before your wedding day gives us a chance to get to know each other, work out any communication issues, and set expectations of what your big day will be like. Engagement pictures also give you beautiful images to use for your announcements, invitations, and decorations for the wedding. It’s a win-win-win!

Valerie and Alijah met in 2014 through a mutual friend and never looked back. Now, nine years later, they’re getting married in a place that’s so special to them: Housing Works Book Store in SoHo! Their ceremony was so beautiful, moving, and special surrounded by so many books, beautiful wood, and their wildly different families. Valerie’s brother and Alijah’s sister conducted the ceremony and translated their vows and I tell ya, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house-ing Works Bookstore! (Haha! See what I did there?)

If there’s a location that’s meaningful to you and your partner, it can be so cool to have your wedding, reception, or after-party there! And if you’re not sure if that’s something they’ll allow, it never hurts to ask, right? I’m all in for a cool venue!
