Okay, I get the hype now.

I’ll be honest with you – even though I was born in California and my parents live there now, I’m a Missouri gal at heart. Of course, California will always have a little piece of my heart because of how many ties I have to it. But spending a few days in Malibu had me rethinking everything. More than that, photographing all along the coast had me swooning for the waves and the sunset in a whole different way!

El Matador State Beach is arguably one of the most popular beaches along the west coast. Where most of the Los Angeles coastline is pretty flat, this Malibu beach is the complete opposite, complete with cliffs and ocean-bound rock formations that filter the sunlight in the most beautiful way!

Another thing I love about this beach is that if you’re not into the whole sand-in-your-toes thing but you still wanna have lunch near the ocean, there are multiple benches and picnic tables around that allow you to take in that view without getting too sandy. The stairs, as you can imagine, are easy on the way down, but quite the workout on the way back up, especially after running around the beach with a pair of cuties like Mariana and Kevin!

But when a cute couple wants to celebrate their new little bump by running around such a picturesque beach at sunset, you gotta jump at the chance! So this Las Vegas photographer packed her bags and headed west to Malibu! “Malibu elopement photographer” doesn’t sound so bad, huh!? ;)

These two are such sweeties, and it was SO beyond clear how obsessed they each are with each other. They’ve been together for about a whole decade, married for two years, and now they’re expecting their first little one!!
