Las Vegas Desert Elopement | Las Vegas Elopement Photographer

An intimate elopement ceremony in the Las Vegas desert is an opportunity for a secluded, free-spirited, one-of-a-kind event that you’ll smile back on for the rest of your life. Elopements are meant to be personal and intentional and with a bouquet of flowers grown on their flower farm in California (how amazing and cute!) and a selection of poems to read during the ceremony (they met in poetry school—does it get more romantic?) Carly and Todd’s was the epitome of that.

If the wide-open desert is the backdrop of your dreams, I have lots of advice! Here are my top tips:

Desert Elopement Ideas and Tips

For starters, be realistic about the weather. This seems totally obvious, but some folks aren’t familiar with the climate. I recommend planning your desert elopement date for the spring or fall when the heat is relatively mild. You should also research when monsoon season takes place (December-March and July-September) and plan accordingly.

Prepare for windy weather and consider planning some alternate options for your outfit if the wind is out of control. This could mean a shorter veil (or safety pins to pin it to your dress), a spare jacket in case yours gets covered in dust, or even a completely different backup look. Another outfit consideration is shoes; I promise, no matter how well you can handle yourself in stilettos, they are NOT a good choice for sand! Your best bet is something closed-toe with a solid heel.

Deserts Around Las Vegas

This beautiful session took place in Red Rock Canyon where ancient rock formations create a beautiful view. Another great place is the El Dorado Dry Lakebed, a wide open space with lots of opportunities for fun poses and gorgeous sunsets. Seven Magic Mountains is also a popular spot for couples who want an iconic setting while still enjoying the diversity in the desert that surrounds it. Some of these locations require a permit for elopements and weddings, so reach out to me if you have questions about the best place to go!

Elopements and weddings in the desert carry a special energy that magnifies the couple and embodies the vast, exciting future that lies ahead of them. It’s hard to understand just how beautiful these places are until you seem them in person as you say your vows. I am so flippin’ excited to see how your Las Vegas desert elopement turns out!
