Choosing an Elopement Outfit | Little White Wedding Chapel Elopement

Choosing an outfit for your Las Vegas elopement may just be one of the most exciting parts of planning the whole process! Even with all the excitement, lots of couples worry that they’ll choose the “wrong” outfit — or is there even a “right” outfit for an elopement? Do you have to wear something not white? Is it “Las Vegas Luxury” or “California Casual” or something else you’ve never heard of?!

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Slow down! There’s no right or wrong outfit here. Eloping instead of having a traditional wedding is all about doing things your way. So let’s go through all the different options for choosing an elopement outfit that’s perfect for you.

First, if one or both of you will be wearing a dress, understand that you can absolutely wear a fully traditional wedding dress, a short cocktail dress, a funky thrifted number, or an extravagant evening gown. If you’re planning on a shirt/pants combination, you can choose anything from a tux to a three-piece suit to a fashionable shirt and slacks.

So if you can wear whatever you want, how do you even begin to decide? Here’s my advice:

• Coordinate with your partner. Don’t clash colors or styles!

• Make sure you’ll be comfortable. Don’t wear stilettos for the first time if we’re going to be romping around the Strip!

• Remember this is a rare and unique experience. How often will you be in front of a professional camera or saying your vows with Elvis’s blessing? Some couples love to go all out for these reasons alone.

When it really comes down to it, wear what makes you feel good and believe me when I say in Vegas, there’s no dress code for love! One of my favorite outfit details from this elopement was Aja’s dress. During the ceremony, she wore her mom’s wedding gown (so stunning and so sweet!) then changed in and out of the dress she chose for herself during our portraits. It was perfect for her vision!
