When it comes to choosing what kind of session to do before your wedding or elopement, an in-home portrait session might just be my favorite. True to my documentary style of capturing your story, in-home portraits are a peek behind the curtain. They are a slice of your life in its most authentic and grounded sense, freezing in time who you are in the small moments of every day. Being in your house also gives you a sense of comfort and familiarity that lends itself to making your photos feel genuine.

If you’re thinking “but my house is a mess!” don’t worry about it! We can focus on just a few areas and get creative with blocking out spaces you don’t want to include. Your house is simply the backdrop for the moments we’re documenting. One of the most special parts of being in your own space is engaging in the little rituals, like making coffee or relaxing on the couch, and having them documented in airy, natural portraits. Usually those little moments go unnoticed, but they all come together to create the life you live every day and deserve to be appreciated as much as the big ones.

Another benefit of staying home is not having to stress about getting out of the house and to a location in full hair, makeup, and a fancy outfit. You have enough on your plate leading up to your wedding or elopement—don’t add more to it! In-home portrait sessions are very relaxed and low-key. These sessions are included in your wedding weekend package, but you can choose to do anything with your extra session.
