Getaway weddings are so fun and filled with adventure for both couples and guests, but as an attendee, the whole experience can be a little intimidating. Many haven’t done the amount of research you have on what your destination country is like or what they need to bring to feel relaxed the whole trip. Lucky for you, I’ve attended many a getaway wedding and am here to provide all the helpful tips that I can!

First, be overly clear about where guests are going when, and go out of your way (as much as possible) to keep things close to the main venue. Many guests will make a full trip out of the experience and will find a sense of camaraderie with other guests as they run around to different locations to get ready and attend dinners and such. Keeping things tight will help guests focus on the fun they’re having rather than the stresses of travel.

Next, be ultra clear about attire. While including a phrase like “beach formal” on your invitation will give guests a general idea of what to wear, giving more details like “neutral color dresses and light suits” will give guests more guidance and increase everyone’s comfort as they prep for the big day. This will also ensure people are wearing appropriate clothes and shoes for the environment you’ll be in. Nobody wants to be in stilettos on the beach!

Third, give local recs for hair and makeup vendors. How often do you have an excuse for a getaway weekend in Italy? Your guests might as well pamper themselves! They’ll appreciate the inside information on trusted people who will care about making them look and feel their best during this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
