International Travel Tips | Destination Elopement Photography
Every international trip takes special preparation and careful planning. A portrait session while travelling internationally just adds on a little extra! Lucky for you, I’m a seasoned pro when it comes to destination elopements and couples photography, so I’ve picked up some helpful advice over the years. Read on for a little extra help as you prepare for this fun adventure!
As with any international trip, make sure you have your passport, visas, trip insurance, and any other necessary documents. It's a great idea to have digital and physical copies of everything so you never find yourself without something vital. Check (and schedule appointments) for any vaccinations you’ll need in your destination country, have local currency or a travel credit card ready to go, and save your embassy’s info in your phone in case of emergency.
When planning your outfit, do more research than usual on what the weather and environment will be like during our trip. For example, if we’re headed to a super humid destination and your hair is likely to turn into a frizzball, plan on a sleek updo or some stronger hair gel so you won't be frustrated or insecure with it during our session.
I also highly recommend stashing a backup outfit in a different piece of luggage–whether that's your partner’s suitcase or your carry-on–in case luggage gets lost or delayed. It may seem like overkill to some, but it’s very much a glad-you-have-it-and-don’t-need-it type thing.
Recovery from a long plane ride is also crucial to ensuring you look your best. Think extra hydration, soothing face masks and eye patches, and a little extra relaxation time in the itinerary. Don’t underestimate the power of rest and lots of pampering! Check out this recent blog for great tips on surviving a long flight.
With all these tips in mind, we’re sure to have a good time and capture romantic, timeless images in a beautiful place. Have more questions? Send me a message!
