Best Time for an Engagement Session | Neon Museum Engagement Pictures

Almost everyone knows about the magic of Golden Hour for booking a photo session (and if you don’t, check out my recent post about it here) but what if those times aren’t available or just straight up aren’t your vibe?

There’s nothing wrong with booking a session time outside of sunrise and sunset. In sunny Las Vegas, it’s a near-guarantee that your photos will be drenched in light no matter what time of day you choose. But then, that brings up the worry for many couples that harsh lighting will totally harsh the vibe. (Do I sound cool saying that?)

I have years of experience photographing couples at all times of day in the Las Vegas light, from capturing the Golden Hour magic to daytime photos in full sunlight. So, how do you choose which time to book for the perfect Las Vegas engagement pictures?

Golden Hour may dial up the romantic feels drenched with buttery gold sunshine, but keep in mind you’ll either have to be up at the crack of dawn or work around evening plans. A midday portrait session would be a great choice for couples who want to fully embrace the feel of the Las Vegas desert: bright sunshine, hot weather, and a unique vibe from the high contrast of shadows and light, while still getting to enjoy sleep and evening socializing.

If you’re worried about overexposed pictures or awkward faces that are full-on squinting, just trust that you hired a professional for a reason! Full sun photos look so stunning with some mindful posing, careful editing, and your favorite pair of shades for a few pictures.
