LGBT+ Affirming Photographer | Sunset Lesbian Proposal
It’s finally time to talk about one of the most fun proposals I’ve gotten to be a part of: Jenny and Tiffany! Not only was this sunset proposal so romantic, it was also a completely new experience for me. I tagged along with this whole crew of friends to the RISE lantern festival which happens once a year in the Mojave desert. Seeing the sky fill with warm lanterns and watching love blossom in front of my lens was just unreal.
On the more practical side, this couple proved to be so discerning and thoughtful throughout the booking process that it inspired me to do an FAQ of sorts with questions that came up as we chatted. Let’s dig in!
Are you LGBT+ affirming?
Without a doubt, yes! Love is the reason I do what I do and I love love in all forms. What matters to me is how you shine when you look at your partner! As disappointing as it is that this isn’t yet the norm, I’m both proud to be part of the community myself and honored to give all couples an inclusive, affirming experience that gifts you with beautiful memories brought to life. Experience capturing the unique love of each couple is also super important when choosing a photographer, so check out some of my favorite queer couples portrait sessions here, here, and here.
Can you photograph in low lighting?
This one is also a yes! Whether I supplement with a little lighting of my own or leverage the light around us (like the stunning full moon or thousands of lanterns) your photos will be clear, flattering, and true to the ambiance of the moment. Can it be challenging? For sure—but if there’s one thing I love almost as much as love, it’s a challenge. You can bet on me!
Are crowds going to mess up our photos?
Not one bit. With clever positioning, strategic focus, and a little photoshop magic, you won’t even notice anyone but yourselves in every photo. This festival was packed and a whole group of Jenny and Tiffany’s friends joined us, but the focus of the moment stayed firmly on the joy and celebration between them.
I hope this post and these romantic sunset proposal photos helped you feel confident in choosing a photographer for your own queer love photo session! If you have more questions I’d love to chat. Just send me a message down below!
