Hearts on Fire | Valley of Fire Engagement Pictures

When it comes to finding a beautiful location for your portrait session, the Las Vegas desert is sure to deliver. If you want a place that burns as intensely as your passion for your partner, Valley of Fire State Park is, without a doubt, my number one choice. Established in 1935 as Nevada’s first State Park, it’s the host to awe-inspiring ancient petroglyphs and breathtaking red sandstone outcrops. It also features dozens of hiking trails unlike any other and more than 70 camping locations.

A sunrise session at Valley of Fire is a riot of reds and oranges across the desert mountains. Kai and Eda chose this location to announce their engagement and I think it’s the perfect spot for a romantic engagement session in the glow of sunrise. They brought two stunning outfits and rocked each and every one as we traipsed around the sandstone and limestone mountains.

The name “Valley of Fire” doesn’t come from just anywhere; when the first road passing through the valley was built between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles, a traveler noted that sunset made the entire valley look like it was on fire. With bright red sandstone dating back to the Jurassic era and sweeping hills and valleys capturing all the incredible light, it’s easy to see why this area holds a special place in many people’s hearts and needs to be protected at all costs.

Because of the strict protections (and threats of excessive heat), Valley of Fire needs 30 days’ notice if you’d like to book a session, so be sure you plan well in advance! I also recommend thinking through your outfit and shoe choices extra carefully because there’s going to be a bit of hiking involved.
