Destination Elopement Photographer | Wedding and Elopement Portrait Inspiration

It’s time for a beautiful wedding and elopement portrait inspiration session at the Louvre in Paris, France! Every detail of this sunrise portrait session came together to create visually striking and romantic pictures. The only hiccup was some minor negotiations with the security team that we were not, in fact, staging the second-greatest heist in Louvre history by setting up a ceremony without permission. As the only French-speaker in the group, that was quite the conversation!

From the earliest stages of planning your wedding or elopement all the way through choosing the final details, one of the most universal pastimes is scrolling through inspiration pictures. Everyone knows these images are beautiful and give you all the warm fuzzies, but what other ways can these photos inspire you?

What are wedding and elopement portraits for?

Beyond the actual “getting married” part, wedding and elopement portraits are the most exciting part of your day! It’s during this session that we capture the essence of your relationship. The look in your eyes when you gaze at each other, the laughs that erupt when I pull out a crazy pose prompt, and the connection that comes from just enjoying each other’s company removed from all the hubbub of your ceremony.

Settings and Locations for Elopement Portraits

Before you start booking venue tours or fully committing to renting a location, it’s helpful to know what the place looks like. To me, a major selling point for a location is how wide of a variety in aesthetics we can get at one location just by walking around and exploring the nooks and crannies. Take this Paris, France wedding portrait inspiration session for example: of course the most visually stunning part of the Louvre is the iconic architecture, but just changing up framing, angles, and taking a turn around the nearby buildings created so many different – and equally inspiring – photos!

Wedding and Elopement Portrait Pose Ideas

If you’re worried about looking or feeling awkward in front of the camera, it can help to search for some pose ideas! We’ll be sure to check off any “must-do” poses you bring to me, and I’ll handle the rest. I’m a master at directing you through lots of specific poses and prompts for spins, lifts, dips, and skips so we create images full of movement and authentic feeling. Another sure way to create variety is mixing up your looks in little ways. Whether that’s taking off your jacket or handing me your bouquet – little things make a big impact.

I hope this post and this beautiful styled gallery brought you all the wedding and elopement portrait inspiration! My Pinterest has tons of inspiration images with all different poses, locations, outfits, vendors, and so much more. Head over and check it out!
